‘The Gleann Catha Céilí Band’ (pronounced ‘Glinn Caha’) is a 9 piece traditional Irish band featuring 2 fiddles, 1 accordion, 1 melodeon, 1 banjo, 2 uilleann pipes, 1 flute and 1 piano. While four of its
members have been playing for set dancing and céilís in London for years - in the McNamara Céilí Band and more - the wider 9-piece (including younger family members) made their very successful
debut at the Highgate Céilí at St Joseph’s Social Club in early 2018, they have gone on to be popular at this venue and the Irish Cultural Centre, Hammersmith. London Lasses and Artisan Row members: Karen Ryan (fiddle/ banjo) and Pete Quinn (piano) join forces with Karen’s cousins, Gary Connolly (accordion), Colman Connolly (uilleann pipes) and other family members in this band, which is named after their family home village along the Coast Road in South Connemara.
